The Power to Persuade is Essential in Achieving Success
If we enter into a profession, we find ourselves constantly faced by the need of persuading our clients and patients, witnesses, judges, juries, opposing counsel and court officers, our congregations and executive boards of our churches and schools, I Individual members of our parishes, our partners and assistants, and, in fact, people above us, below us, and all around us. The farmer must sell his produce, the manufacturer his manufactured article, the railroad its transportation service, wholesale and retail distributors their merchandise. Politics consists almost wholly in persuasion. A congressman must persuade first his party leaders and perhaps his competitor in the party; then the voters at the primaries; then the voters at the election; then the speaker of the House; then the members of his committee; then the President and many executives in the administration; then, perhaps, the House itself in assembly; then, in turn, his constituents and, perhaps, the entire nation.
Wealth cannot be gained, social position cannot be attained, power is impossible, authority is not conferred, pleasure cannot be purchased, a happy and harmonious human life cannot be realized, spiritual peace cannot be found, and happiness is forever beyond our reach, except through the power of persuasion. By persuasion in prayer, we attempt to move the very mind and heart of God Himself.
So all-inclusive is this power that if you will think the matter out clearly, you will see that the answer to the problem of every human being, diverse as these problems are, the gratification of every human desire, the realization of every human ambition, may be summed up in two brief colloquial injunctions, namely: first, have the goods; second, to be able to sell them. Neither one of these is complete without the other. No man can permanently succeed in any truly desirable way unless he has something tangible or intangible, spiritual, intellectual, or material which he can offer to others as compensation for that which he wishes to receive. And no matter how valuable any man's offering, it must lie unnoticed in the world's markets unless he can sell it, in other words, persuade others to exchange for it that which he desires. The thing he wants may be only an opinion or a conviction may be only of momentary value, or it may be a gold or a silver coin.
The air-brake is probably one of the most valuable inventions ever applied to the railroad industry, and yet George Westinghouse, its inventor, found it impossible even to give it away to railroad presidents until he had learned how to sell it. The telephone, perhaps the greatest convenience, luxury, and time and money saver of modern times, would have remained a scientific toy unless the most astute and vigorous methods of persuasion had been used to insure its almost universal adoption and use. We have seen that Elias Howe built the first sewing machine so well that its fundamentals have never been improved upon, and yet, despite his most strenuous efforts and the efforts of his friends and associates, it remained a mere mechanical curiosity until he had learned how to persuade others to use it.
A.F. Sheldon has said, "Salesmanship is not conquest, but co-operation." Salesmanship is only the commercial name for persuasion; therefore Mr. Sheldon has uttered a great truth. Human interests do not clash, however much they may appear to. All human interests are mutual. John D. Rockefeller did not amass a fortune by making others poor. On the contrary, in the building up of his hundreds of millions, he increased the wealth of others by billions. The theory that there is not enough wealth to go around, and that if one man has a great deal of money others must therefore have too little, is a vicious and dangerous fallacy. The resources of the universe are infinite. The possibilities of humanity are unlimited. The interests of all lie, fundamentally, in the greater and greater development of the latent possibilities in all men and the more and more efficient exploitation and conservation of the resources of the universe. This is philosophic. It is a generalization. It is a statement of facts so tremendous in their scope and so deep in their significance that it is difficult to make a connection between them and the practical details of success in every-day life.

The Stark Reality Of Pursuing Success
Success in life is not difficult or tricky. It's not luck either. Success can be summed up in ONE word: alignment.
For you to succeed, in any endeavor, you must learn to align 4 basic components of your life. The four components are:
1. Your thoughts
2. Your decisions
3. Your actions
4. Your awareness
Today, we'll discuss the second basic component: your decisions.
NOTE: For more information on "your thoughts" check the archives for "Align Your Thoughts for Success"
Your decisions
Our thoughts don't control our decisions, but they do influence and steer them. Listen, to make a decision we have to make a choice of what we want to act on.
Decisions are nothing more than transitions between thoughts and actions.
Now, they are very important transitions. Without them you wouldn't be able to take action. Therefore, you need to make smart decisions to get you where you want to go.
So, how can you start to make smarter decisions? Here are 2 ways to start making smarter decisions:
1. Align your thoughts with what you want.
The thoughts you FOCUS ON the most are the ones you make better decisions about.
Your thoughts are your foundation. Focus on high energy thoughts more often and you'll start to make better, smarter decisions.
2. Learn to control pain/pleasure
Okay, you've started to align your thoughts with success. Now, you have to control how you feel about taking action on your thoughts.
Remember, decisions are just transitions. To transition from thoughts to actions you have to control your emotions.
There are 2 primary emotions: pain and pleasure.
Pain is a stronger emotion than pleasure. In other words, most people will do more to avoid pain then they will to gain pleasure.
Now, pain isn't necessarily a bad emotion. And pleasure isn't necessarily a good emotion (at least in this context). The important thing you need to know is:
How do you control pain/pleasure to make smarter decisions?
Here's a simple exercise to gain control. Pick a topic you've been focusing your thoughts on and do the following:
a. Write down 5 advantages that will GIVE YOU PLEASURE.
Example: You've been focusing on mastering your time. One advantage to this that gives you pleasure may be:
You'll be able to spend more time with your family.
b. Write down 5 disadvantages that will BRING YOU PAIN.
Example: Again, you've been focusing on mastering your time. One disadvantage to this that brings you pain may be:
You'll lose the love of your spouse and kids.
c. Now, read both lists aloud.
Really feel the advantages and disadvantages in your gut. Use these lists as leverage to gain control over the pain/pleasure you're experiencing.
Okay, you know your thoughts have influence over your decisions. You also know you have to control the pain/pleasure between your thoughts.
You're ready to make a decision...

Successful People Gravitate to Successful People
When you are looking to achieve real success, the people that you surround yourself with will become extremely important. Successful people gravitate to other successful people for very good reasons.
We can be reminded here of the old saying "birds of a feather flock together". Who you choose to build relationships with will influence your success. Evaluate the quality of your relationships. Make sure that they are productive and positive.
You will be brought down by those that are engrossed in negativity. Your success can fail if you are surrounded by people who complain, argue and bring doom and gloom into your life.
These types of people lack commitment to change and when they see that you are striving for a higher level of thinking they are generally not supportive. Their inclination is to convince you that what you are moving to accomplish is not worth the effort.
You will want to immediately eliminate any relationship that causes you pain and anguish. This snake like relationship is very harmful. The venom that is left with in you once this snake has bitten you will deplete you of all the good you are striving to create in your life.
You must have courage and determination to remove these types of people out of your life. Some may be family members or life long friends, you may love them, but if they are not meeting you on the higher level, you will want to keep your contact with them as limited as possible.
You will want to surround yourself with people whom you trust, respect, and who have a burning desire for success as well.
You do not create success by yourself. Team work is what usually gets you there. You will want to have people in your circle who are positive and support your dreams and your efforts.
Success in life requires that you continuously feed your inspiration and motivation in order to manifest momentum. Your relationships play a very big part in achieving all of this. There is amazing energy that comes from being around like minded people. You will achieve your goals much quicker when you cultivate more empowering relationships.
As you become more successful you will naturally gravitate towards others who are successful too. However the key is to start building quality relationships in the beginning as mental energy for the road ahead. These relationships can be the breeding ground for wonderful success in the near future. As you start to collaborate and mastermind with in these positive relationships, creative energy starts to flow as you work together for a common goal.
You will want to seek out mentors, people who have gone before you on the journey to success. Their guidance and wisdom will be invaluable as you learn from where they have been. Your mentors should be those that resonate with you. They should represent the integrity that is congruent with yours. You will want to be careful as to not put them on a pedestal. Mentors are human and if at some point they fail to live up to your high placement of them, you will run the risk of a disappointment. Learn as much as you can from them, and as you grow so will your circle of mentors and your ultimate success..

How Does Focus + Persistence = Success
Self-help has accomplished many great things in the world. How many of us falter, faint, and dally with our purpose, because we have no capital to start with, and wait and wait for some good luck to give us a lift! But success is the child of focus and perseverance. It can not be coaxed or bribed; pay the price and it is yours.
As a rule, what the heart longs for the head and the hands may attain. The currents of knowledge, of wealth, and success, are as certain and fixed as the tides of the sea. In all great successes we can trace the power of concentration, riveting every faculty upon one unwavering aim; perseverance in the pursuit of an undertaking in spite of every difficulty; and courage which enables us to bear up under all trials, disappointments, and temptations.
Perseverance built the pyramids on Egypt's plains, erected the gorgeous temple at Jerusalem, enclosed in adamant the Chinese Empire, scaled the stormy, cloud-capped Alps, opened a highway through the watery wilderness of the Atlantic, leveled the forests of the new world, and reared in its stead a community of states and nations. Perseverance has wrought from the marble block the exquisite creations of genius, painted on canvas the gorgeous mimicry of nature, and engraved on a metallic surface the viewless substance of the shadow. Perseverance has put in motion millions of spindles, winged as many flying shuttles, harnessed thousands of iron steeds to as many freighted cars, and set them flying from town to town and nation to nation, tunneled mountains of granite, and annihilated space with the lightning's speed. It has whitened the waters of the world with the sails of a hundred nations, navigated every sea and explored every land. It has reduced nature in her thousand forms to as many sciences, taught her laws, prophesied her future movements, measured her untrodden spaces, counted her myriad hosts of worlds, and computed their distances, dimensions, and velocities.
One of the commonest of common virtues is perseverance, yet it has been the open sesame of more fast locked doors of opportunity than have brilliant tributes. Every man and woman can exercise this virtue of perseverance, can refuse to stop short of the goal of ambition, can decline to turn aside in search of pleasures that do but hinder progress. It may seem slow at first, but perseverance assures success.
The romance of perseverance under especial difficulty is one of the most fascinating subjects in history. Tenacity of purpose has been characteristic of all characters that have left their mark on the world. Perseverance, it has been said, is the statesman's brain, the warrior's sword, the inventor's secret, the scholar's "open sesame."
Persistency is to talent what steam is to the engine. It is the driving force by which the machine accomplishes the work for which it was intended. A great deal of persistency, with a very little talent, can be counted on to go farther than a great deal of talent without persistency. A man who thus gives himself wholly to his work is certain to accomplish something; and if he has ability and common sense, his success will be great.
There is no vocation or occupation, which does not present many difficulties, at times almost overwhelming, and the person who allows themself to waver every time they come to a hard place in life, will not succeed. Without decision there can be no concentration; and, to succeed, a person must focus.
When we are undecided we cannot bring ourselves to a focus. We dissipate our energy, scatter our forces, and execute nothing. We cannot hold to one thing long enough to bring it to success. When a vocation or occupation presents its rosy side, we feel sure it is the thing they want to do, and, full of enthusiasm, adopts it as a life's work. But in a few days the thorns begin to appear, their enthusiasm evaporates, and we wonder why we are so foolish as to think we are fitted for that vocation. So we vacillate through life, captured by any new occupation which happens to appeal to us as the most desirable at the time, never using our judgment or common sense, but governed by our impressions and our feelings at the moment. We are not being led by principle. The result is spending our lives at the beginning of occupations and never reaching the stage of competency, comfort and contentment.
Successful men, it is said, owe more to their perseverance than to their natural powers, their friends, or the favorable circumstances around them. Genius will falter by the side of labor; great powers will yield to great industry. Talent is desirable, but when combined, focus and persistance is a determining factor in your success.

Reconditioning Your Programmed Mind: Principle 1
Let’s review the law of manifestation before we actually look at wealth file one. Remember that all habits are the result of how we were programmed from early childhood on how to think, followed by our feelings which lead to our actions. Many of these actions (or inactions) actually become our habits, and in the financial arena, lead to how well successful we are in building wealth.
Wealth file number one states that rich people believe they create every aspect of their life, while poor people believe they are victims in life. Rich people take conscious responsibility for their life and poor people take on unconscious roles of "poor me." There are three clues that will identify the victim mentality. All of us may do this from time to time, but the professional victim excels at these clues. They include blaming, justifying and complaining. Each of these will tend to create more of the same, since the law of attraction states that what you focus on expands.
Most victims are constantly looking to blame anyone and any other circumstance except themselves for the plight they are in. They rarely look to themselves as the culprits for the situation they are experiencing. The next time you catch yourself blaming someone else, try to observe if you are shirking your self-responsibility. If you want to grow as a person and start to improve your wealth, stop blaming everyone except yourself. Be honest with yourself and look to see if you can improve your own ways first.
Another clue you’ll hear that describes the victim is when you hear them justifying some situation in their financial life, like "Money is not that important." If they state that money in not that important, do you think they will attract money into their lives? Of course not. Rich people understand that money is important and is "spirit in action." It’s not that money is bad or good, but rather what you do with the money. It is relinquishing your responsibility to not strive to do well financially so you can help others who do not have the wherewithal to get rich. Once you have some wealth, you will then be in a position to help many more people and worthy causes.
The final clue is complaining. Does anyone enjoy being around someone who is complaining. No! It will drag you down and influence your attitude just being around a negative complaining person. What that person is doing is focusing on what is wrong or miserable in their lives, and so they will attract the events, people and circumstances that reinforce that way of thinking. They will be like a huge magnet attracting more of the same. You can either be rich, successful and happy or you can think of yourself as a victim. But you cannot be both rich and a victim at the same time.
So why do people continue to play the victim role? What do they get out of the deal? The answer is attention, even though they are attracting the wrong kind of attention. They are mistaking attention for love. The kind of attention that comes from your blaming, justifying and complaining will not lead to true love of yourself or others. The attention seeker is stuck in their ego, instead of being outwardly-focused and of service to others. By taking back control of your life, you will begin to create the wealth you deserve. You will create the exact level of financial success you feel worthy of.

Success! But Wait! Who Are We kidding?
The power for success is – where?
"Don, can I find success in prophets writings or guru declarations?"
"Well Jon, Let’s face it; anyone, even God himself, can offer a formula for success. No matter if it has freed thousands, in all guarantees made, what would it be worth without your participation. That’s right, the main ingredient in any success formula is you. The burden is placed directly on you. Maybe you don’t want to hear that, but, like it or not, it is you who makes success happen and brings God’s promises into an experience.
"Bring God’s promises into an experience, what can that mean? Can you invoke God’s power for your benefit?"
"You better believe you can! All the power of the Universe is at your disposal."
"Wow, wait a minute, that can’t be, God doesn’t allow man to create . . . does he?"
"The fact is, man was created in God’s own image and likeness, man is a creative being. Your quest for success is not done blindly for it is in faith that you forge ahead. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."
"Wait a minute, If that’s true, why can’t I create my own environment?"
"You’ve clearly ignored the truth up tell now what makes you think you can handle the truth?" The truth is, you can, by simply using God’s laws."
"How about success?"
Success is only a state of mind. What is success for one person may be failure to another, so success is what you believe it to be."
"But Don, I have worked hard and God has not supplied me anything up to now. My family has lost faith in me, and even my church friends don’t seem to care"
"Jon, another eye-opening fact is, no one, not even God will make it happen for you and quite frankly no one on earth cares if you make or not. Look around, in most instances, people want to see you fail. Friends, family, associates, don’t want to see you doing better than them, I’m sorry to say, sad but true."
"What can I put my trust in?"
"All events that affect you are actually controlled by you in other words, nothing is going to happen in your life without you accepting and allowing it happen. If you have a tyrant boss, don’t accept his/her conditions, find another job. One guarantee I can make, you won’t be successful if you don’t do any thing different than you did yesterday. If you accept the face of success, you are accepting God’s personal promise for your future. When all is said and done, success comes at a steep price, one you must pay to reap its benefits."
Do you make or break – yourself? As you can see, Jon is in a quandary, be believes everyone has let him down and success is beyond his reach.
A startling fact is, in God’s creation nothing moves forward without some effort being made by the participant. Sometimes the effort is tremendous and almost beyond measure, sometimes it is small and accomplished with little sweat. Anytime a person toils and sews the seeds of success a harvest time will follow. It’s a matter of how much effort he/she is willing to expend as to how much bounty his/her harvest will be. This is no earth shaking revelation, everyone knows success is self made, or do they?
Make no mistake, God’s laws know no boundaries, they are the same for everyone, believers and non-believers alike. Don’t be so naive as to believe that just because you are a Christian, God’s laws are proprietary to you; they are not. God’s laws encompass the whole of mankind equally; they are cause and effect or the action in choice. There can be no beginning without an ending. It’s a matter of the course taken between the beginning and the ending that determines success.
Regrettably, statistics disclose most of the world’s greatest self-help and how-to publications published over the years are never read by most purchasers and the material contained within is in no way put into practice. So all the writing in the world is of no use if it is presented to the blind.
The greatest majority of people simply can not grasp the truths of success or self-disciplined themselves to implement or even partially learn the best of laid out instructional concepts. It is sad that the many efforts of learned people who toiled diligently to present success manuals go unheeded while most people can’t lend themselves to put them into practice in their lives. This is the very reason universities and colleges are so valuable and are able to charge so much; they prepare undisciplined people in how to arouse the inner self. They also teach people how to focus on the task at hand. I can’t stress enough, if you can not discipline yourself in this effort you too will fall to uncertainty and ultimately disappointment. What most people never learn is that to become great at anything, you must become single minded and task directed.
First law of success, "the force needed to move an object is in direct proportion to its resistance".
Sound like a riddle? No, it simply means, "the harder you work the more you get." But wait, there’s another rule that says, "work smarter not harder" which also applies. Also, "necessity is the mother of invention". Man is the only creature within God’s creation that has the capacity to take an idea from conception to creation. Why? Because in conception lies possibilities in discovery and truth which is a God inherited trait. What is the Universe but a possibility, idea, conception taken to its highest limits?
Even though God provides abundance, it is still a test of your intent and willingness. Do you have the strength to complete the mission? What is success but a test of endurance, desire, and commitment? When courted success is an elusive mistress who always resist capture and when not minded, will seek a more apt suitor.
The fact is, the concept of personal accomplishment, and financial success may seem worthy but without a clearly defined plan of action, they are little more than pipe dreams that come and go in the mind and may never be realized. Concepts must be visualized in your mind first before they will become a reality, then they can become strategies of success. Success is closer than you think.

Power of Affirmations and the Laws of Financial Success
If you are looking for financial success in life it would benefit you to concentrate on positive affirmations for prosperity.
Affirmations are an excellent way of installing good habits into your subconscious by repeating positive phrases and goals over and over again. As the phrases settle into your subconscious mind (which is the real powerhouse of the brain) they become your reality.
Affirmations are positive, self-affirming thoughts that replace the dark and negative thoughts that were previously keeping you from reaching your full potential for financial and personal success.
The success you want is within reach; by understanding affirmations you will be able to start on your new journey towards success. Everyone wants to succeed but to do so you must desire success.
You might be on a path right now that is not serving you well. If you are tired of watching other people having success, while it seems like your life is passing you by? Then a change is required in the way you think... Change your mind - change your life!
In order to use affirmations effectively there a few guidelines to follow:
1. Make sure that your affirmation is taking place in the present tense. You don't want to say, "I will be successful," as this indicates to the subconscious that being successful is not important to you NOW but sometime in the future.
2. Use the first person when stating positive affirmations. For example, "I am healthy, wealthy and wise."
3. Affirmations should be short and simple - and reflect what you want to happen and what you can do to make that situation happen. Work with only one or two affirmations at a time. They don't have to be long and complicated because if they are - you will never remember them - and that is one of the main reasons why you might forget to say them.
4. To create affirmations - focus on what you want - not on what you do not want. You should only be focusing on the outcome that you wish to achieve. You may have to spend some time on deciding what that is but it will be well worth your while.
5. Repetition is the key; say your affirmations often throughout the day. Once is not enough, say them out loud to yourself if you find yourself having negative thoughts. Surround yourself with books and quotes that are inspirational as to keep yourself on track.
6. See and feel yourself living the experience of being rich or successful as though it is actually happening right now in your life. The better you can see yourself living the life of your dreams the more quickly your positive affirmation will come to fruition.
Remember to have fun with this. It is a very important component that is often overlooked. When you are in a lighter mood you are at a higher vibration level, which attracts more positive situations and events to you.
Affirmations are a great tool when it comes to creating change. The difference that a simple verbal statement can make in the life of a man, woman, or child is nothing short of phenomenal.
Here are a few affirmations to get you started but I suggest you customize your own to suit your desires.
I am truly grateful for everything I have right now
I am a generous giver and an excellent receiver
Lucrative opportunities always come my way
Money comes to me easily and frequently
My life is filled with happiness and joy
I give service and value to other peoples lives
I am in excellent health
I choose to attract abundance with ease
Remember...
If you think you can do a thing or think you can't do a thing -- you're right.

The Key To Your Success
Are you learning? Are you growing? Are you becoming more of who you are each day? If you're not learning and growing, you're dying, so step up and read today's article / video and take a new action today that makes your life better than it was!
In regard to making money on the Internet, everyone is always looking for the quick fix. They want to sign up for a program, place an advertisement, and make hundreds or thousands of dollars instantly. While this may be possible depending on your circumstances, the most direct and guaranteed path to success on the Internet is to stick with the fundamentals.
A friend of mine who is an athletic coach for kids in the city where I live reminded me of this lesson. This guy is actually so passionate about kids and athletics that he coaches 4 different sports: basketball, soccer, baseball and football. Of course, he has a kid of his own on each team. But what is remarkable about this guy is the results he gets with his teams.
He was recruited to coach the 8th grade football team where his children go to school. After 27 years of losing seasons in a row, the first year my friend became the head coach the team won the district championship and repeated their championship run the following year. This past weekend he coached 12 different games and won all 12 of them. As you can tell, this guy is extremely dedicated.
But the funny thing is that he and the kids he coaches are not totally hung up on winning. If they lose a game, they feel equally good about themselves as they would if they had won. What matters most to them is how well they played and lived up to their potential as a team.
The real question is how my friend's teams continually perform on such a high level and beat nearly anyone they play even though they are often smaller and younger than their competitors. I asked this question to my friend the other day and he told me that it's all in the fundamentals.
In his practices, all he works on with his kids is keeping a positive mindset and practicing the fundamentals. He told me that his teams never scrimmage or strategize about upcoming games during practice. They simply work hard on all the fundamentals of whatever particular sport they are playing and do so more than any other team they play. This constant practice and improvement of the fundamentals is what allows his teams to progress faster than his competitors. While most other teams get caught up with how to win, out-strategize, be stronger than and intimidate their opponents, my friend's team is just so good at the basics that they blow everyone out of the water when game day arrives.
This got me thinking about my own Internet business and why I've been able to succeed on such a high level while most others who have tried to do what I do have failed. The answer is not really surprising.
Most people who try to build a successful Internet home business are looking for the quick fix. They want it to work IMMEDIATELY and so they usually fall prey to business opportunities that promise to help them get rich overnight and advertising scams that promise to deliver thousands of hungry prospects to their website in the next 24 hours. Of course, these opportunistic schemes are really just geared to steal people's hard earned money. You see, when someone is desperate and looking for an INSTANT solution, they will often be taken advantage of and their chances for success with an Internet home business are slim to none.
However, while there are thousands of business opportunities on the Internet and millions of different ways to advertise and promote your website, I personally practice the fundamentals in my Internet home business. I do this by sticking with the business opportunities I've joined for the long haul and promoting my website consistently with simple, affordable and easily maintained Internet marketing techniques.
By getting some content published on other websites online using powerful tools, I'm able to get my name and website address in front of thousands of people without paying a dime in advertising. Of course, the key to this strategy is that I write and distribute articles in this way. It's one of those "fundamentals" that doesn't cost anything but a little time and effort. Fact is, it's this price of time and effort that most people are unwilling to pay. They'll gladly part with hundreds or even thousands of dollars, but ask them to do a little hard work and they say "No way."
It's this understanding that can separate you from the pack. If you are willing to practice the fundamentals of your business faithfully and consistently, you will be destined to succeed on a high level. But if you can't and you're only looking for the quick fix, you have already lost the game before you even set foot on the field.
Even pros like me practice the fundamentals every day. In fact, especially pros like me practice the fundamentals. The moment I stop practicing the fundamentals is the moment I stop being a pro. Think about this carefully and then renew YOUR commitment to the fundamentals of your Internet home business today. Do this and you will soar past your competition.
